Bullpups defend Asean School Games crown

MANILA, Philippines — After playing for Gilas Pilipinas Youth in the recent FIBA Under-19 World Championship in Greece, Carl Tamayo, Terrence Fortea and Gerry Abadiano will spearhead National University’s title-retention bid in the 10th Asean School Games starting tomorrow in Semarang, Indonesia.

The three national youth will be joined by joined by Phl U-17 standouts Harold Alarcon, Steve Nash Enriquez and Aaron Buensalida in NU’s campaign in the event that also gathered the top high school teams from Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam and the host country.

The other members of the team sponsored by Eduard Tio of Freego and Kevin Wong of Oriental Group of Companies are Kevin Quimbao, Jon Felicida, Jeffy Mailim, Reyland Torres, Menard Songcuya and Nathaniel Tulabot.

Goldwin Monteverde, who is part of the coaching staff of the Gilas Youth, calls the shots for the Bullpups with Edster Sy as team manager.

The Bullpups earned the right to represent the country after winning the Palarong Pambansa gold medal for the third straight time in Davao City.
