MANILA, Philippines — The Manila Cockers Club, Inc. (MCC), the country’s cockfighting industry game changer, concluded its Mega 9-Cock Championship Derby last April 15 with Triple A-2 emerging as champion.

The event was held at the world-class Cockers Arena, San Lazaro Leisure Park (SLLP) in Carmona, Cavite.

Marlon Matias and Jovito Jamelano of Team AC Triple A-2 claimed their first solo title, besting the entries of other World Pitmaster and Slasher Cup participants which include Atty. Carlos Tumpalan, Don Mauro Prieto, Honey Yu, Rey Morla, Rey Briones, Rod Advincula, Cong. Amado Bagatsing, Cong. Arnie Teves, Teng Rañola, Buddy Robrigado, and Henry Chua, among others.

A total of P2.5 million in participating breeders assistance fund was awarded to the solo champion.

Before qualifying for the derby, players had to participate in at least four 7-cock championships of MCC held from January to March 2019. This ensures that the quality of matches and excellent standards of the Club are maintained in every event.

MCC is set to continue its exciting slate of derbies in the coming months of May to July, the remaining leg of the open cock season. Each will have a guaranteed breeders participating fund of P4.5 million. All events will have a weight limit of 1.850kgs to 2.400kgs, and open to all cocks and bullstags.
