MANILA, Philippines — Citi recently entered into a partnership agreement with the Philippine Paralympic Committee (NPC Philippines) to become an official partner through 2020 as part of a global partnership agreement between Citi and the International Paralympic Committee (IPC).

The international agreement supports 18 National Paralympic Committees (NPCs) as they prepare for upcoming world and regional Championships, as well as the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.

“Citi Philippines is exceptionally proud to be part of the global Paralympic Movement,” said Citi Philippines country officer Aftab Ahmed at a signing ceremony held at Citi Plaza in Taguig. “Our goal is to make a difference as a responsible corporate citizen by helping to promote inclusiveness and equality for all. We very much look forward to supporting the nation’s talented Para-athletes.”

“We are delighted that Citi joins the NPC Philippines as a corporate partner and we look forward to working together to further awareness of how our Para sports program drives social inclusion,” said NPC Philippines president Michael Barredo.“This new partnership will catalyze our efforts in pursuing our vision of enabling our Filipino Para athletes to achieve sporting excellence and excite and inspire the world.”

Citi began its global relationship with the Paralympic Movement in 2012 with its sponsorship of the US Olympic and Paralympic teams. In 2018, Citi served as a sponsor of the International Wheelchair Rugby Federation Wheelchair Rugby World Championship in Australia, World Para Swimming Allianz European Championships in Ireland, Asian Para Games in Indonesia, and Para Powerlifting Americas Open Championships in Bogota.

Through the partnership, Citi Philippines will help engage fans through integrated marketing campaigns to generate excitement and national pride around the extraordinary accomplishments of the country’s Para athletes. Citi will also work to help support the NPC through employee volunteerism and other activities.
