Que hardly recovers with 73; Thai stays ahead
MANILA, Philippines — Angelo Que holed out with a birdie to cap a rollercoaster round of 73, barely moving to joint 20th after three rounds of the Indonesian Masters still paced by Thai Poom Saksansin in Jakarta yesterday.
Que hit four birdies but stumbled with three bogeys and a double-bogey on the 17th, hardly recovering from a disastrous 74 midway through the $750,000 event that dropped him from a share of fourth to joint 27th Friday.
The Filipino ace shotmaker opened with an impressive 67 to stay in early contention but lost his touch and momentum in the next two rounds when things got tough at the challenging Royale Jakarta Golf Club.
With a two-under 214 total, Que fell behind by 14 shots over the hot-shooting Saksansin, who kept a three-stroke lead after a 70 and a 200.
