MANILA, Philippines — The Smart Araneta Coliseum hosts the Encuentro Sa Araneta Big Event 5-Stag Derby with 40 fights on tap on Dec. 18.
Leaders of seven gamefowl breeders associations (GBA) have joined forces to stage the event, said Nick Crisostomo, president of Luzon Gamecock Breeders Associations (LGBA).
Cockfight idol Patrick Antonio, currently preparing for the 2019 World Slasher Cup at the Big Dome (Jan. 28 to Feb. 6), will banner Team LGBA.
The six other groups are Rizal (RGBA), Kapampangan (KGBA), Bulacan (BGBA), Quezon (QCBA), United Manila Cavite (UMCGBA) and Pangasinan (GBAP).
Due to the big number of fights, competition starts promptly at 11 a.m., said RGBA president Rey Directo.
“It’s a big event derby with affordable entrance fees of P1,000 and P800,” said Crisostomo.
