Creamline moves closer to PVL finals

Kristina Villanueva - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — No. 1 Creamline faded at the finish of the opening set but regrouped as it clubbed Petro Gazz, 26-28, 25-15, 25-13, 25-16, to move a win closer to securing a finals seat in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan Wednesday.

The Cool Smashers blew two set points in the first set to concede but made up for it with their dominance in the last three with Jema Galanza and Alyssa Valdez spearheading their offense to draw first blood in their best-of-three semifinal series.

Fourth-seeded Petro Gazz will try to force the sudden death tomorrow at 4 p.m. at the same venue.

Wanting to celebrate her birthday with a win, Galanza topscored with 24 points going with 18 excellent receptions while Valdez dropped 18 points built on 16 hits and two aces.
