Philippine team vies in World Poomsae tilt
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine taekwondo team makes another bid for international honors when it competes in the 2018 World Poomsae Championships Nov. 15-18 in Taipei City, Chinese Taipei.
Forty-one Filipino athletes – 24 male and 17 female – will carry the colors of PLDT Home Ultera/MVP Sports Foundation in the prestigious event which will also feature tough competitors from 79 other countries like Korea, China, France, Spain, Iran, Turkey, Germany, Chinese Taipei and the United States.
The Philippine campaigners are:
Male (Seniors) – Jean Pierre Sabido, Ernesto Guzman Jr., Glenn Lava, Dustin Jacob Mella, Raphael Enrico Mella, Rodolfo Reyes Jr., Jeordan Dominguez, McAvynger Alob, Jerel Anthony Dalida, Mark Lorenz Balcita, Patrick King Perez, June Ninobla, Eulogio Rodriguez and Joel Lacsamana; (Juniors) – Justin Kobe Macario, Johann Abelard Concepcion, Dennis Francis Arquero, Joaquin Dominic Tuzon, Darius Venerable and Ricco Jame Teraytay; (Cadet) – Zeick Andrei Tacay, Ian Matthew Corton, Joaquin Miguel Cerillo and King Nash Alcairo.
Female (Seniors) – Rinna Babanto, Juvenile Faye Crisostomo, Jocel Lyn Ninobla, Angelica Joyce Gaw, Janna Dominique Oliva, Clare Therese Gacon and Alileah Dulce Amor Perez; (Juniors) – Laeia Simoune Soria, Maria Aljana Erece, Aidaine Krisha Laxa, Chelsea Xen Tacay and Cindy Joy Diasnes; (Cadet) – Allyssa Lou Llenes, Jamiehannah Agaloos, Maira Nicole Ann Labayne, Aesja Kiara Oglayon and Khia Mae Cortez.
Backing the Taipei-bound Phl team are Smart Communications Inc., Meralco, Philippine Sports Commission, Philippine Olympic Committee and Milo.
Six officials will accompany the Philippine squad. They are Tom Igor Mella (team head), Lee Minhaeng (foreign coach), Rani Ann Ortega, Edrick Jhaney Galing, Galilee Tinaya (coaches) and Glen Buenafe (team delegate).
