MANILA, Philippines — Letran seeks to join San Beda and Lyceum in the Final Four as it tangles with San Sebastian today even as Perpetual Help guns for at least a playoff for the last semis seat against Emilio Aguinaldo College in the NCAA men’s basketball tournament at the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan.

The Knights edged the Lyceum Pirates in a controversial 80-79 victory last Friday that assured the former of at least a playoff for a semis seat on an 11-4 card.

Another win in its 2 p.m. showdown with an also-ran SSC-R squad (4-11) will put the Knights alongside solo leader San Beda (14-1) and No. 2 LPU (14-2) in the post elims play.

Larry Muyang hopes to ride on his monster 23-point, 16-rebound effort in their last win while Bong Quinto tries to come up with a follow up to his 20-point game.

But Letran Jeff Napa cautions his wards not to take the Stags lightly.

“San Sebastian has played extremely well in the second round and is really a strong team. We can’t take them lightly,” said Napa, who will again pin his hopes on Larry Muyang and Bong Quinto, who combined for 43 markers the last time out. Muyang also finished with 16 rebounds to earn the best player of the game honors.

Meanwhile, the Altas, currently at No. 4 with a 10-5 slate, also zero in on a semis seat as they take on the Generals (4-12) at 4 p.m.

The Las Piñas-based side is coming off a five-game run, including an 85-77 overtime victory over the Stags Friday, after splitting their first 10 outings.

“This win is important in our Final Four campaign and we want to focus on getting this one,” said Perpetual Help mentor Frankie Lim.
