The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The Filipino-Chinese Veterans Basketball Association (FCVBA) crushed host Hat Yai, 73-42, as its 60s team posted its second straight victory to advance to the semifinals of the 27th ASEAN Basketball Veterans tournament at the Prince Songkla University gym in Thailand Tuesday.

Former PBA star Elmer Reyes struck for 26 points while ex-La Salle star Kenneth Yap and Danny Ching combined for 24 markers for the Edster Sy-mentored FCVBA, which will go for a sweep against Miri of Malaysia on Wednesday.

Backed by Rain or Shine’s Terry Que, Freego’s Eduard Tio and Ironcon’s Jimi Lim, the 65s are also seeking a sweep of their group elims against the Malaysians from Miri.

Also contributing for the 60s team are Andrew Ongteco, Aries Franco, Elmer Latonio, Jose Go and Ramon Mabanta.

The 60s are gunning for a fourth straight title in the annual tournament while 65s are eyeing a three-peat.
