John Marvin Miciano gains; Janelle Mae Frayna loses

MANILA, Philippines — International Master John Marvin Miciano downed Sweden’s Joachim Bergre and split the point with Singaporean Advait Bagri in the seventh and eighth round to barge into the top 15 entering the final round of the Burgse Meesters in Burges, Belgium Wednesday night.

Woman GM Janelle Mae Frayna lost to FIDE WIM Tsveta Galunova and GM Jayson Gonzales halved the point with Alex Moreto Quintana of Spain, to get in the group a rung lower than Miciano with five points.
