Malditas booted out of AFF tourney

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines crashed out of the semis race in the Asean Football Federation (AFF) Women’s Championship after absorbing a 0-5 setback to Vietnam over the weekend  at Jakabaring Stadium in Palembang, Indonesia.

Coming off a 3-0 win over Singapore, the Malditas tried to sustain the momentum and catch a big fish in Vietnam but the latter proved unstoppable and dealt them their second loss in three games and elimination with a still a match left in Group B.

Huynh Nhu fired a brace as the Vietnamese hiked their tally to nine points for the group lead and guaranteed entry into the next round regarldess of the outcome of their elims battle with nine-pointer Myanmar for the group No. 1.
