MANILA, Philippines — Philippine Sports Institute official and former jungolfer Oliver Gan has spearheaded a fund-raiser to boost the country’s junior golf program and called on the private and government sectors to chip in their share to help the young athletes in pursuit of golfing excellence.
With support from friends from the golfing community, including Puwersa ng Bayaning Atleta (PBA), Reps. Jericho Nograles and Mark Zambar, and Tiffany Copok of the Junior Golfers Foundation of the Philippines (JGFP) among others, Gan’s recent event at Wack Wack has raised funds for The Junior Golfers League and the JGFP, whose players are set to compete in various international tournaments.
“The important thing is the development of junior golf. We want to help kids with potentials to improve their game and through this we’ll be able to help golf in general,” said Gan, who also hosted former NBA champion Bruce Bowen with the San Antonio Spurs to a round of golf at Wack Wack yesterday.
