Best of Lady Archers yet to come, says De Jesus

MANILA, Philippines — Shortly after La Salle reasserted its mastery over nemesis Ateneo, De La Salle’s Ramil de Jesus hinted that his team hasn’t peaked yet.
De Jesus’ wards dominated the Lady Eagles in what could pass off as a microcosm of the second round of eliminations — an emphatic sweep.
Flanked by his top performers off that outing— Michelle Cobb, Majoy Baron, Kianny Dy and Tim Tiamzon — the mentor, who was recently named national team coach, was quick to point out that there is still a lot of room for improvement.
“Magka-sabay-sabay lang lahat ng players ko on the court,” he offered, pointing out the team’s production. “'Yun pa ang kailangan namin na ma-practice, kasi may mga times na iilan lang 'yung talagang umi-score.”
"Mas maganda siguro kung lahat sila nagko-contribute sa team,” he went on to add.
And that couldn’t be more apt as they enter the next round: the Final Four.
“Sabi ko nga, one game at a time. Tapos na kami sa Ateneo, so it's about time na mag-focus kami sa susunod na game,” De Jesus said.
And not even a twice-to-beat incentive is making him relax.
"Sabi ko sa kanila, at lagi kong sinasabi sa kanila, itong buong eliminations, hindi importante ito. Ang pinaka-importanteng game ay pagdating ng semis at tsaka ng Finals, kung aabutin ng Finals,” De Jesus added.
The Lady Spikers, now 12-2, will next lock horns with National University, which finished the preliminaries with a 7-7 win loss card. They commence hostilities on April 22 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
