MANILA, Philippines — More than 500 national and regional instructors and Philippine Taekwondo Association officers from all over the country will converge on Sunday at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum for the 2018 National Instructors’ General Assembly meeting.

The PTA organized the important event with SMART and MVP Sports Foundation to discuss taekwondo’s plan for the year as well as the sport’s calendar and the performances of regional officers especially in the National Capital Region.

Shown are many of the instructors who are preparing for Sunday’s general assembly.

Registration for the event will be held from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

PTA chief executive officer and Grandmaster Sung Chon Hong says the assembly will talk about the PTA’s 2017 accomplishments and discuss the 2018 national and international competitions like the World Qualification Tournament for the Buenos Aires Youth Olympic Games, World Junior Taekwondo Championships, Asian Taekwondo Championships, World Poomsae Taekwondo Championships, the 18th Asian Games, the Philippine Taekwondo League and many other events.

The meeting will also feature a refresher course on the new World Taekwondo Federation officiating rules as well as the updated techniques for both poomsae and kyorugi.

Taekwondo is  the country’s leading producer of gold, silver and bronze medals in various international events in Asia, Southeast Asia and the world.
