Andrada Cup slated Jan. 2-8

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Over 200 players are expected to clash for top honors in various divisions in the 29th Andrada Cup Age-Group Tennis Championships set Jan. 2-8 next year.

Former Philippine Tennis Association (Philta) president Col. Salvador Andrada yesterday said the event is a continuation of the grassroots program he had drawn up for the tennis since the late ‘80s.

It’s the longest-running tennis tournament in the Philippines, and it has ran non-stop, according to Andrada, who is counting on the support of the Philippine Sports Commission and private companies like Thadeus Sports and Altamar Shipping headed by Manuel Misa.

Tournament referee Ilynn Hupano said deadline for registration is at 5 p.m. of Dec. 28. Players may register through tel. No. 0917-7941354. The draw is set Dec. 29.
