MANILA, Philippines - Alab Pilipinas yielded to a more determined Singapore Slingers, 82-64, and thus kissed its ABL campaign goodbye Friday night in Baliuag, Bulacan.
The Slingers, with big games from Xavier Alexander and Filipino import Josh Urbiztondo, swept the Filipinos, 2-0, in their best-of-three semifinals showdown and advanced to the title playoff versus the Hong Kong Eastern Long Lions.
It was a repeat victory for Singapore, which pulled off a 77-67 triumph in Game One.
Alexander scattered 21 points while Urbiztondo came through with 20 as the Slingers sealed their finals entry.
“Definitely, it’s not the ending that we wanted, but we clawed, clawed and clawed,” said Alab coach Mac Cuan.
