Skyathon Run to aid in restoring Boracay’s reefs

MANILA, Philippines – Sky Cable Corporation and RunRio will team up this year to hold the Skyathon Boracay Beach Run 2017, a race set on April 22 and aimed at raising awareness and funds to sustain the island's excellent natural beauty and rich marine ecosystem.

It will actually the second year that the Skyathon has focused on restoring the island's coral reefs by generating funds to purchase reef nurseries via the Coral Reefurbishment project in partnership with the Boracay Foundation, Inc.

And Sky Cable is looking at keeping the advocacy on a long term basis.

"Boracay has given so much to Filipinos and it is only fitting that we return the favor by helping the country's world-class island remain beautiful," said Sky Cable sales marketing head Jaynalen Redondo in yesterday's presser at the Buffalo Wild Wings at the Estancia Mall in Pasig City.

Sky Cable marketing manager Delbert Santos II said this year's theme is "Be A Hero in Boracay."

"This is actually a run to save the island because the problem is getting bigger," said Santos.

RunRio president Rio dela Cruz and marketing director Andrew Neri were also there in the launch and voiced their support.

"This rehabilitation project can help coral reefs to recover for Boracay and maintain a healthy coastal marine ecosystem," said Neri.

Dela Cruz they added the 3K event to the original 10k and 5k races from the past years.
