MANILA, Philippines - Collegiate stalwarts, led by EJ Laure of UST, Jho Maraguinot of Ateneo and Isa Molde of University of the Philippines connect with PLDT Home to make it more fun and exciting for fans during the UAAP Season 79 women’s volleyball tournament.

The troika was tapped by PLDT Home, presentor of the UAAP  volleyball competition for the second season, as new ambassadors, along with Kim Fajardo of La Salle, Bernadeth Pons of Far Eastern U, Jorelle Singh of National U, Jessica Galanza of Adamson and Seth Rodriguez of University of the East.

According to PLDT vice president and Home marketing director Gary Dujali, each member of the fun, powerhouse roster “demonstrates the passion, dedication and vivacity that PLDT Home brand encourages among the young and active generation.”

“Beyond the stars’ obvious talent are outgoing, fun-loving personalities that we are proud to welcome into the PLDT Home family,” Dujali said.

“We look forward to bringing volleyball fans the best experience of the UAAP, help them become part of the stars’ exciting journeys, and in turn, let the stars inspire their fans to be excellent at their own sport,” he added.

The new ambassadors were formally welcomed to the growing PLDT Home family in yesterday’s media launch highlighted by a fun game of “Volleyfeud” against veterans Rachel Anne Daquis, Angeli Tabaquero,  Dindin Santiago-Manabat, and John Vic de Guzman.

“I’m really honored to be a part of this kasi masaya ang family na ito and I’m excited to spend time with them and continue to inspire the young,” said Maraguinot.

“I hope to be able to inspire other players, especially those who are just starting, to strive harder and do better,” said Laure.

“I look forward to joining the kulitan on Viber, in Volley Friends and posting videos,” Molde said.

Molde’s Lady Maroons team are off to a strong start in the two-week old UAAP tourney, winning their first two assignments to share second with DLSU behind NU’s 3-0.

“It’s always a collective effort. Coach (Jerry Yee) always reminds us to take it one game at a time and not think way ahead like playing in the championship,” said Molde.

Laure’s Tigresses pack stumbled to two successive losses but she said there’s no reason to panic.

“Morale is still okay after the loss to La Salle; we knew we tried our best so it’s not that painful. It’s just the first two games and the tournament just started so we still have time to make adjustments like lessening errors especially on service and improving our reception, first ball and blocking,” she said.
