UAAP women’s volley: Too close to call
MANILA, Philippines - At least six teams are tipped to slug it out for the crown while the other two are raring to spring a surprise or two, making this year’s UAAP women’s volleyball tournament the most tightly fought in years.
The back-to-back seeking La Salle Lady Spikers lost open spikers Ara Galang, Cyd Demecillo, and middle blockers Mika Reyes and Carol Cerveza may have already completed their playing eligibility while Eli Soyud moved to another school. But the Taft-based squad need not worry as veteran setter Kim Fajardo has decided to play for another year.
Action begins on Saturday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, with Ateneo facing UST at 4 p.m., right after NU and UE collide at 2 p.m.
Kim Dy, last season’s Finals MVP, will again banner La Salle along with fellow key returnees Majoy Baron and libero Dawn Macandili.
