Tabuena joint third, bags P1.8M

MANILA, Philippines – Miguel Tabuena closed out with a third straight 69 yesterday and finished tied for third in the $750,000 Leopalace 21 Myanmar Open at the Pun Hlaing Golf Club in Yangon.

The 22-year-old Tabuena fired six birdies, four of them on the back nine, to make up for a double-bogey on No. 3 and bogeys on Nos. 7 and 13 for a final-round 69.

With his third straight two-under-par round, the veteran of the 2016 Rio Olympics and now a force to reckon with in the Asian Tour finished with a 274 total.

Tabuena wound up tied for third with South Korean Sungjae Im, who fired six-under-par 65. He pocketed $38,500 or roughly P1.8 million.

Todd Sinnot of Austria, only in his second year as a pro, carded a 65 with six birdies and no bogey, to win the tournament at 270 after previous rounds of 72-69-64.

Carlos Pigem of Spain wound up in solo second, three strokes off the winner, following rounds of 70-67-68-68.

Juvic Pagunsan closed out with a 69 for a tie for 43rd at 283 ($3,905) while Angelo Que had a 75 for 288 and a tie for 63rd ($2,100). Antonio Lascuña did not make the cut.
