Baby Falcons, Bullpups gain semis
MANILA, Philippines - Adamson and National University assured themselves of Final Four playoff berths after routing their respective foes yesterday in the UAAP Season 79 juniors basketball tournament at the Filoil Flying V Center.
The Baby Falcons hammered out a 77-59 win over UP Integrated School while the defending champion Bullpups carved out a 63-52 victory over De La Salle-Zobel.
Encho Serrano and Gerry Abadiano teamed up for 42 points as Adamson rebounded from last Saturday’s 73-75 loss to Far Eastern University-Diliman to improve at 8-1.
Winderlich Coyoca and Karl Peñano had 13 and 12 markers, respectively, as NU also secured its eighth victory against one loss.
The Baby Tamaraws, inspired by the win over the Baby Falcons that ended their foes’ seven-game winning run, blasted University of the East, 94-51, for a 7-2 card in third place.
Ateneo downed University of Santo Tomas, 81-75, to rediscover its winning ways with a 5-4 slate in fourth spot.
The Junior Maroons fell at 3-6, two games behind the Blue Eaglets in the race for the last semis berth.
The Tiger Cubs and the Junior Archers stumbled at 2-7 while the Junior Warriors bring up the rear at 1-8.
