Taneo sizzles as Altas hold off Generals
MANILA, Philippines – Reigning men’s titleholder Perpetual Help reasserted its mastery over last year’s finals rival Emilio Aguinaldo College, posting a 25-23, 25-19, 25-15 victory to get back on track in the men’s division of the 92nd NCAA volleyball tournament at the FilOil Flying V Center in San Juan yesterday.
Rey Taneo unleashed a 13-hit game he spiked with nine kills and four blocks while coming through with superb digs and receptions while brother Relan kept the team’s offense in sync with 30 excellent sets as the Altas hiked their record to 3-1.
The Generals fell to their third straight loss.
In women’s play, Perpetual Help routed EAC, 25-15, 25-17, 25-18, to snap a two-game skid while dealing the Lady Generals their fourth straight setback.
The Lady Generals fell to 0-3.
In juniors’ action, EAC rallied to pull the rug from under defending champion Perpetual Help, 25-23, 19-25, 23-25, 25-21, 17-15, and seize the solo lead with three straight wins.
