MANILA, Philippines – The 22nd season of the Philippine Tot Baseball’s Metro Schools League Baseball and Softball tournament comes off the wraps on Nov. 20 at the Sto. Niño baseball field in Marikina City.
Rodolfo “Boy” Tingson, president of the Philippine Tot Baseball Foundation (PTBF), said about 80 teams from 25 schools from Metro Manila and nearby provinces will compete.
Because of the big number of participants, Tingzon said the games will be held every Sunday until late February or early March next year.
“When we started this tournament more than 20 years ago we had only two schools represented in a dual meet. Now we have 80 teams from 25 schools,” he said during yesterday’s Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Forum at Shakey’s Malate.
The event has become one of the biggest school-based and community-based baseball and softball tournament in the country.
Helping ensure the success of this year’s staging is the entry of HMR Trading Haus and Loro Sports, a staunch supporter of rugby in the country, as sponsor.
