Aquino, Duremdes shine as Customs downs PNP

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – Former Ginebra star Marlou Aquino scored 25 points and Kenneth Duremdes added 17 markers as Bureau of Customs downed Philippine National Police, 93-84, in the fifth UNTV Cup at the Pasig Sports Center last weekend.

The 6-foot-9 Aquino proved unstoppable inside as he scored all but one of his nine field goals to power the Transformers to their fourth straight win in Group B elims.

Duremdes, on the other hand, completed another double-double with 10 rebounds, helping Customs dominate PNP, 42-23.

Former University of Santo Tomas player Bernie Franco backed the two ex-Adamson stars with 12 points and five rebounds.

PNP, which drew 27 points from Ollan Omiping, slipped to 2-1 in a tie with House of Representatives and Judiciary.

Meantime, the GSIS Furies picked up their first win in three games in Group B with a 94-84 victory over the DOJ Boosters while the MMDA Black Wolves also snapped a two-game losing run with a 92-82 drubbing of the Ombudsman Graft Busters.
