MANILA, Philippines – Rizaldy Canare bested 36 other riders to rule the Elite Riders class of the RxR Club Race of the Eneos Philippine Motorsports Championships at the Clark International Speedway in Pampanga recently.

Canare earned 40 points from his feat as he turned back the son-father team of James and Jaime Barcial, the second leg winner, who tallied 34 and 30 points, respectively, in the event backed by Honda, MTRT, Faito, Koso and Racing Boy.

Mark Tan placed fourth with 26 points while Edwin Chua scored 22 points for fifth.

Motorcycle Taiwan Research Team (MTRT) COO Henson Hu, meanwhile, was elated over the success of the four races, including the Team Spirit Race, the Faito Cup and the Koso Cup that drew huge fields.

The four-leg series initially lured 87 riders in its inaugural race but the number grew to 154 in the second leg and drew 118 in its third staging. The finale attracted 194 riders.

“We’re happy with the big turnout and the overall huge success of all four races. Through the support of our corporate partners, we made sure that all the top five finishers in each class all went home happy,” said Hu.

Sharing the spotlight in the RxR Club Race were Emman Balmes, who topped the MME-ERF class over former champion Meng Sevilla and Cyril Mendoza; and Dennis Torres, who ruled the Wild Card class over Juan Paolo Kaibigan and Hermie Francisco.

John Edward Godoy of Team EAS swept the two races to emerge the 160 Open champion with perfect 80 points in the Team Spirit Race. He prevailed over Mark Tan of Team Fastek and James Amporias, who ended up with identical 64 points while Sean Barcial of Friday Club and Mark Morente of JoySpeed placed fourth and fifth, respectively.

John Edward’s brother, Edmond Godoy of Team EAS, likewise scored a sweep to capture the 160 Street Legal crown over Jocel David Lachica of Jayneys and Jeffrey Jasmin of Team Fastek with Mark Jerome Jamero of Team ZOOM and Cyruss Montajo of Team Beat Works finishing fourth and fifth, respectively.

Christian Anderson of DK copped the 130 Street Legal title of the Team Spirit Race with 74 points over Jambok Beltran of CRT/M&I and Memel Natividad of Jayneys while Ray Ann Soriano of EAS and Alicia Ortega of Team Fastek took fourth and fifth, respectively.
