Phoenix, ROS boost BPBA bids

MANILA, Philippines – Phoenix turned back NLEX, 70-62, while Rain or Shine won by default over Tropang TNT to bolster their respective bids in the Cloudfone-Batang PBA 16-and-under basketball tournament at the Philippine Science High School gym in QC yesterday.

The Batang Fuel Masters trailed by four going to the fourth quarter but put their act together and rallied to repulse the Batang Road Warriors even as Mahindra trounced Alaska, 69-62, in the other match.

The Batang Texters got stuck in traffic from Las Piñas, forcing them to default their match against the Batang Painters.

In Tuesday’s results, Barangay Ginebra San Miguel outlasted NLEX, 67-62; Alaska routed Star, 72-56; Tropang TNT blasted Blackwater, 78-43; and San Miguel Beer stopped Meralco, 57-48.
