MANILA, Philippines - Former San Beda College star Jorge Bienvenido (JB) Sison became one of the youngest members of SBC’s Hall of Fame when he was inducted into the elite circle of sports achievers feted during the school’s traditional “Red and White Ball” rites.

Relatively young to be included in SBC’s Sports’ “Hall,” the 40-year-old Sison shone as a player during his high school and college days then also stood out as a college coach after suiting up for various teams in the commercial leagues.

While he achieved so many feats as a player, including a three-peat with the Red Cubs, Sison excelled more as a coach, starting as an assistant of the Red Lions in 2006 up to the present. The Lions ruled NCAA from 2006 to 2008 then from 2010 to 2013. He has also taken over the Red Cubs coaching reins since 2013, steering the team to three juniors championships. Aside from the NCAA, the Red Cubs also topped the 2013 FilOil Flying V Juniors Basketball and the Australia Gold Coast Invitational.

Under his tutelage, the Red Cubs also won the Southern Tagalog Calabarzon Athletic Association Basketball Secondary Boys Championship from 2014 to 2016 representing Rizal Province; the Palarong Pambansa Basketball Secondary Boys Championship representing Region IV; Philippine Secondary Schools Basketball Champions; ASEAN Schools Games Basketball Secondary Champions representing the Philippine team; the Philippine Collegiate Champions League and the 2016 Metro Manila Basketball League Championship.

In 1950, San Beda College, through its Alumni Association (SBCAA) has set up a yearly “Hall of Fame” awards for its distinguished and outstanding graduates both here and abroad who brought “pride and glory” to their alma mater. The award is conferred during the traditional “Red and White Ball” as a tribute to numerous Bedan achievements in sports competitions and other careers.

Sison, who is married to Maria Susana Sison and has a son in Joaquin Santino. has been a basketball enthusiast since he was a boy. Seeing his interest in the sport, his parents enrolled him in the Milo Best Training School, marking the start of his basketball career. He was a member of the Philippine Milo Best team that won the Las Vegas Easter Classic.

After his Milo Best training, he enrolled at the San Beda College High School where he played for the Red Cubs, who scored a three-peat from 1991. After finishing high school, he played as guard for the San Beda Red Lions from 1994 to 1997.
