Griffins down Doves, gain UCLAA semis

MANILA, Philippines – Colegio de San Lorenzo used a fiery start to seize control then held on to carve out a 67-58 victory over St. Francis of Assisi College and gain the first semifinal berth in the eighth Universities and Colleges of Luzon Athletic Association (UCLAA) men’s basketball tournament at the Marikina Sports Complex last Tuesday.

James Alvarado fired a game-high 15 points as the CdSL Griffins scored the first nine points and went on to finish off the SFAC Doves for their sixth straight win as they moved within a win of  sweeping the single round elims.

Tristan Laman and Yves Nicolas conspired with Alvarado in CdSL’s explosive start, combining for four triples in the first quarter as the Doves failed to slow down the Griffins the rest of the way.
