The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Host Philippine Cultural College streaked to its fourth win with a 67-55 romp over Makati Gospel Church-New Life Christian Academy as it stormed to solo lead in the Juniors Division of the third Philippine Ching Yuen Athletic Association (PCYAA) basketball tournament at the Uno High School Gym in Tondo over the weekend.

Kimson Chen tallied 15 points and 10 rebounds in leading the Seagulls to another victory in the eight-team tournament.

Chen also dished out a double-double game of 12 points and 16 rebounds in the team’s 58-55 win over Uno High School last week.

Uno, meanwhile, bounced back from that defeat as it downed Jubilee Christian Academy, 60-56, behind the 17-point performance of Kim Tanlo.

Meantime, defending champion Saint Jude Catholic School routed MGC-NLCA, 58-39, last week to likewise hike its record to 3-0.

Jared Filipino and Maynard Yap took charge for the Judenites, scoring 12 and 10 markers, respectively, while combining for 12 rebounds – most of them in the third period as the Judenites pulled away for good.

Lance Chan tallied all of his six points in the third while Kendrick Ong had four points, 13 rebounds and two blocks for St. Jude.

In other games last week, Sebastian Choi scored 24 points and John Ing added 20 markers as Grace Christian College picked up its first victory in three outings with a 70-64 decision over winless Jubilee while Pace Academy, behind Jaden Ng’s 19 points, improved its record to 2-1 with an 83-39 rout of undermanned Saint Peter the Apostle School.
