Top US bet joins World Slasher

MANILA, Philippines – Ray Alexander, the World Slasher 1994 and 1995 title holder, gears up for another stint in the 2016 World Slasher Cup-1 8-Cock Invitational set Jan. 30-Feb. 7.

Now over 80 years old, the cockfight enthusiast who still tends to his champion game fowls at the Stingray Gamefarm in Alabama confirmed his stint  in the Slasher for as long as he can.

“Only death will stop me,” said Alexander who had joined all Slasher tournaments the last five decades.

He definitely won’t miss the 2016 edition of the “Olympics of Cockfighting” which promises to be the biggest ever.

There will be three separate two-cock elimination days on Jan. 30 and 31 and Feb. 1, with each entry fighting two roosters each.

The two-cock semifinals will follow on Feb. 2, 3, and 4, wherein all the entries, including those with two losses in the eliminations, may continue to fight.

There will be a one-day break in hostilities on Feb. 5 as the qualifiers prepare for the finals.

On Feb. 6, those with scores of 2, 2.5 and 3 points will slug it out in the four-cock pre-finals. This is equally important because if any 3-pointer wins all its assigned matches, it may eventually win the crown if no one in the grand finals will be able to score perfectly.

The four-cock grand finals will take center stage on Feb. 7 when all undefeated entries with scores of 3.5 or 4 points will lock horns for the championship.

Entry fee is pegged at P88,000 with a minimum bet of P33,000.
