Superal, Del Rosario seek Hong Kong Open plum

Tennis superstar Rafael Nadal flashes top form during the second staging of the International Premier Tennis League at the MOA Arena. The IPTL is the first city-based pro league in the world which brings together current champions, tennis legends, upcoming talents and top-ranking stars and which helps boost local sports tourism in line with the Tourism Promotions Board’s Visit the Philippines Year (VPY) 2015.

MANILA, Philippines – Princess Superal hopes to kick off the new season the way she closed out her campaign last year – on a winning track as she spearheads The Country Club’s title drive in the Hong Kong Ladies Open Amateur unfolding today at the Hong Kong Golf Club in Fanling.

Superal snapped a three-month long title spell with a string of victories to wrap the 2015 season, claiming two victories in Malaysia, scoring a come-from-behind win in Singapore before dominating the field in Jakarta.

With four victories, the 19-year-old former US Girls’ Junior champion is upbeat of her chances in the 54-hole championship, seeking to reclaim the crown won by LPGA-bound Cyna Rodriguez in a playoff triumph over then TCC teammate Jayvie Agojo in 2012

She will start at 7:48 a.m. in the company of local aces Tiffany Chan and Ying Yung Lai after TCC teammate Sam Martirez opens her bid against Yik Ching Tam and Mimi Ho at 7:39 a.m.

Pauline del Rosario completes the crack TCC squad in the event which drew some of the region’s leading and rising amateurs and the host country’s top players in the ranks with the reigning Thailand Junior and Ladies Open Amateur champion slugging it out with Virginie Ding and Felicia Louey at 7:57 a.m.
