Tile Masters, Giants begin duel for PCBL crown

MANILA, Philippines – Caida Tiles and Jumbo Plastic try to move closer to a title run in the inaugural PCBL Founders Cup as they collide today at the start of their best-of-three finals series at the JCSGO Gym in Quezon City.

Gametime is at 5 p.m. with odds just about even between teams that took different routes to the title playoff.

The Tile Masters swept the Euro-Med side in their best-of-three semis series while the Linoleum Giants needed to fight back from 0-1 down to foil the Sta. Lucia Realtors in sudden death.

The finals opener was originally set Wednesday at the Malolos City Sports and Convention in Bulacan but was called off due to inclement weather. Game 2 will be held in Malolos with the rubber match, if necessary, also set to be staged in Malolos.

The two teams used the extra break to toughen up, guaranteeing a slam-bang action in the event supported by Ambucore, Accel, Spalding and Aquabest.

The Giants are expected to lean again on their guards, including ex-Powerade playmaker James Martinez and Jeff Viernes with ex-pros Marcy Arellano and AJ Mandani also tipped to provide the leadership and Jaymo Eiugilos, Mark Lopez and JR Taganas hoping to sustain the form they showed against the Realtors.
