Hobe Bihon, FEU-NRMF stay unbeaten

MANILA, Philippines - Hobe Bihon-Cars Unlimited and Far Eastern University-NRMF posted similar lopsided victories to take the early lead in the semifinal round of the fifth DELeague basketball tournament at the Marikina Sports Center Sunday night.

Hobe Bihon-Cars Unlimited dominated Philippine Christian University from start to finish and scored an 89-80 romp while FEU-NRMF kept its win run with a 92-83 rout of Sta. Lucia Land Inc.

Wayne Schism fired 22 points and hauled down 12 rebounds while Gandry Sanjo added 16 points and eight rebounds for Hobe, which ousted Metro Pacific Toll Corp., 80-63, to advance to the semis.

Von Tambeling scored 20 points and Mike Ayonayon chipped in 20 markers for the PCU Dolphins.

Meanwhile, Taylor Stratham scored 17 points and Bright Akhuetie added 14 markers and 15 rebounds for the FEU Tams, who advanced to the Final Four outright by sweeping the elims.

The Realtors, on the other hand, drew 15 points and eight rebounds from Karim Abdul while Mike Tolomia added 14 markers.

Action in the semis of the league, sponsored by PSBank, Accel Sportswear, PCA -Marivalley, Angels Burger, Mckies Construction Equipment Sales and Rentals, Luyong Panciteria, Azucar Boulangerie and Patisserie, JAJ Quick Print Advertising, Mall Tile Experts Corp., Jay Marcelo Tires, Polar Glass and Aluminum Supply and Mr. and Mrs. Dot Escalona, resumes tonight with PCU and Sta. Lucia colliding at 7 p.m. and Hobe Bihon and FEU-NRMF mixing it up at 8:30 p.m.
