Princesa, Mendoza cop S’woods Seniors crowns
MANILA, Philippines – Willy Princesa carded a gross 74 to annex the Class A crown while Ador Mendoza topped Class B with a gross 84 in the Manila Southwoods Seniors Trimester Birthday Bash golf tournament presented by San Miguel Purefoods at Southwoods’ Masters course in Carmona, Cavite last Wednesday.
A 10-handicapper, Princesa finished with 64 points to edge Tony Valera, who scored 68 points from a gross 72, while Mendoza, with a 20 handicap, also finished with 64 points to nip Vic Conanan, who turned in a gross 87 worth 65 points, in the event which served as the final tournament for players 55-years-old-and-above for the year.
Fred Javellana came through with a gross 90 for 64 points as he bested Rolly Dizon, who had 66 points from a similar gross of 90, for the Class C crown in the 18-hole tournament organized by the Seniors Chapter headed by president-tournament chairman Paco Gonzalez and vice president Rod Pepito.
The regular members’ meeting and election of officers were also held before the awards rites.
Meanwhile, Mel Gozum took the nearest to the pin award (two feet on No. 5) while Jun Ramos hit the longest drive (276 yards on No. 15) for the fun holes of the event backed by hole-in-one sponsor Kart Plaza and supported by hole sponsors Asia Pacific Golf Corp., Blackrock Corp., Brainmaster for Senior Moments, Megafiber Psyllium Fiber, Goutritis Herbal Supplement, Camp John Hay Golf Club, Columbia Wires and Cables, Forest Hills Golf Club, JCG Electrical Enterprise, Metro Convergence, Inc., Mizuno, Red Eagle Lending Investors Corp., Rudy Project Phils., Tomas Joson III and Warbird Security & Investigation Agency with Farmers Coffee, Caramba Foods Corp. and Le Chef as supporters.
