Kerby Raymundo to replace Ayo as Letran coach?

MANILA, Philippines – With the news that its coach Aldin Ayo is moving on to La Salle in the UAAP, Letran has started its search for a possible replacement.

Letran alumnus Kerby Raymundo is most likely the one.

Ayo will reportedly bid Letran goodbye at its Intramuros campus in a meeting Thursday afternoon, paving the way for the school's top officials to officially start its search for a possible replacement.

"The first name that came out was Kerby Raymundo," a source told The STAR on Thursday.

The Knights are using the same winning formula they did in selecting Ayo.

Like Ayo, Raymundo is a former Letran alumnus and was the top player and a teammate by the former when the Knights won back-to-back NCAA championships in 1998 under coach Louie Alas and 1999 under Binky Favis.

Interestingly, Raymundo was MVP in 1999 before he decided to turn pro the year later and eventually became a 10-time PBA All-Star, a 2002 Governor's Cup Finals MVP and won multiple championships.

Raymundo retired two years ago and is currently an assistant coach at Brgy. Ginebra.
