MANILA, Philippines -- Ateneo player Chibueze Ikeh is already out of police custody after his lawyer posted a bail of P24,000 on Thursday afternoon.
Ike was arrested and detained at the Quezon City Police District criminal investigation and detection unit’s detention facility inside Camp Karingal on Wednesday night for violating Republic Act 9262, a law penalizing violence against women and their children.
According to a source, who requested not to be identified, a certain Elsa Payumo of Bataan filed the complaint.

The arrest warrant was issued on Wednesday and Ikeh was subsequently arrested right after the Ateneo Blue Eagles won their fourth straight game -- a 74-65 victory over Katipunan rival UP Fighting Maroons -- to clinch a Final Four seat in the UAAP men's basketball.
After posting the bail, Ateneo Athletics Director Emmanuel Fernandez told reporters outside the QCPD headquarters that Ikeh will not be suspended since the issue is a "private matter" and will play in their crucial rematch against arch-rival De La Salle Green Archers on Sunday.

It was the latest of a string of off-court issues that hounded the Eagles all season long.

First, it was the tension among team supporters after the first round asking for Ateneo head coach Bo Perasol to resign. Then came the viral video of John Apacible, who appeared to be drunk and introduced himself as a "councilor" in an argument with a motorist.
Ikeh is expected to play in the grudge rematch on Sunday where Ateneo will try to avenge its first round defeat against arch-nemesis La Salle and move closer to second spot.
