MANILA, Philippines – Manila NU-MFT survived a pesky Malolos Mighty Bulsu side with a thrilling 94-86 victory to seize the solo lead in the Filsports Basketball Association Second Conference at the Malolos Sports and Convention Center Tuesday night.

Former La Salle standout Matt Salem exploded with 23 points and spiked it with 14 rebounds to power the Mica Tan-backed Bulldogs to their second straight victory and remain atop of the standings.

Pampanga Foton Toplander, for its part, relied on Tim Habelito's 19 points as it smashed Pateros Austen Morris Associates, 99-89, to book its first victory.

The Mighty Bulsu, who were led by Mark Pangilinan's 20 points, fell to their first defeat, while the Associates, who leaned on Chris Cofield's 29 points and 12 boards, absorbed their second straight defeat.

In the other game, the Quezon City UP Maroons, the First Conference champions, drew strength from the 38-point effort of Francis Abarcar as they defeated Marikina Wangs, 78-70.
