Benedicto keeps ULAH crown
MANILA, Philippines - Unilab Active Health’s (ULAH) August Benedicto rallied in the last two events to foil his rivals and retain the crown in the Tri United 3 from ACEA Resort (Dungaree Beach) inside the Subic Bay Freeport to Alviera in Porac, Pampanga via the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) last Sunday.
Benedicto bucked the heat and teammate Benjamin Rana and Ben Regan strong start in the swim leg, dominating the bike and run stages to capture the elite male crown in four hours and 48 minutes.
“I was behind coming from the swim leg but I managed to
overtake them,” said Benedicto. “I’m very happy for winning again.”
The event, organized by Bike King headed by Raul Cuevas and presented by ULAH, proved to be the toughest in this year’s series with its main course covering roughly 113-kilometers in distance (1.9km swim, 90km bike, 21km run).
CamSur Tri Team bet Billy Biag clocked 5:04:16 to finish second while Rana lost steam down the stretch and settled for third 5:07:23.
Meanwhile, Katelyn Kearney was the lone Elite Female participant and went on to claim the title with her 7:17:15 time.
The winners received P10,000 each while the second and third placers got P6,000 and P4,000, respectively, in the event supported by ULAH, Enervon Activ, Active Health Carb Gel, Enervon HP, NLEX-SCTEX Cycling, Orbea, Saucony, WeatherPhilippines, TIMEX, Gardenia, The Lighthouse Marina Resort, Court Meridian Hotel and Suites and Oxford Hotel and Casino.
