MANILA, Philippines – Air Force leaned on its well-balanced attack as it drowned Navy, 25-21, 25-21, 25-18, over the weekend to remain undefeated and at the helm in the Spikers' Turf Season 1-Reinforced Conference presented by PLDT Home Ultera at The Arena in San Juan City.
The crisp-spiking Rodolfo Labrador and Ruben Inaudito spearheaded the seige by firing 14 and 10 hits, respectively, as the Airmen soared to their third straight triumph to solidify its grip of the lead.
Air Force's second stringers also made a major impact with Jeffrey Malabanan and Reyson Fuentes coming off the bench to provide some attacking punch outside the Malabanan-Inaudito tandem.
"Everybody contributed in this win," said Air Force coach Rhovyl Verayo in Filipino.
The Airmen won their first two outings by trouncing Instituto Estetico Manila, 25-19, 25-27, 25-22, 25-20, in the conference opener on Oct. 10, and Cignal, 25-22, 25-18, 20-25, 25-21, on Oct. 17.
The Navymen dropped to their first defeat after a shock 25-21, 21-25, 25-19, 25-18 victory of the Sta. Elena Active Smashers on Oct. 10.
Meanwhile, the league takes a break in observance of the All Souls and Saints Days and w2ill resume on November 4 with a heavy three-game bill pitting Air Force against Sta. Elena at 1 p.m., Navy versus PLDT at 3 p.m. and Cignal against IEM at 5 p.m.
