Ateneo's John Apacible issues public apology for road rage incident

MANILA, Philippines -- The erring Ateneo Blue Eagle who is in the middle of storm following a drunken road rage incident over the weekend has issued a public apology. 

The school's official Facebook page posted John Apacible's letter of public apology bearing his handwritten signature. 

"I am asking for forgiveness for the wrongdoing I have done the other day. I admit that I have committed a mistake and because of this I am ashamed for my family, my team, school and all parties who were affected," Apacible wrote in Filipino. 

"I was only thinking of myself and I forgot about my responsibilities.  I am ready to accept whatever consequences of my actions. Again, I am asking for forgiveness," he added.

On Monday, Apacible was identified as the drunken man who was caught on tape going berserk after a road accident. He flashed a vanity "Councilor" plate which according to reports belong to his girlfriend and shouted expletives while challenging the man who was recording the whole incident to a fist fight.

The school officials quickly issued a memo on Apacible after he apologized to the whole team and school officials for his misbehavior. The team management suspended him from the rest of the Blue Eagles' games in the second round.   The team management, however, noted that "his teammates will be supporting him through this trying time, more so in the faith that he will become a better Atenean. Cura Personalis (which is a Latin phrase for "Care for the entire person")."
