Anton tops 6th round, stretches kart lead
MANILA, Philippines - Castrol-Yokohama champion driver Inigo Anton won two of the three heats during the sixth round of the Philippine Karting Championship series held in Clark recently to extend his lead over his rival Constantin Reisch of Austria and team mate Maveric Corpus.
Anton, on board his Kart Plaza-WorksBell-prepared racing machine, set the fastest lap record of 1 minute, 14.332 en route to victory during the first heat and followed it up in the pre-final heat under wet conditions.
“I was quite happy it rained for the pre-final because it helped me secure another win. Constantin and his teammate were very quick in the dry and helped each other a lot,” Anton said after the race.
With the wins, Anton now has an 18-point advantage over Reisch in the National series through the huge support of Mark Young racing, Cars unlimited, Edgesport, Kilton, Autoshack, Special Stage, JSD Autosport and View Park Hotel.
“We are now preparing for the thurd round of the Asian Karting Championship in Thailand where Iñigo also has a slight lead over his rivals. With God’s help and his sponsors’ continued support, we hope he will be victorious again,” Philippine racing champion Carlos Anton said.
Inigo Anton, along with the Philippine contingent, will race at the famous Bira Circuit in Pattaya, Thailand against the region’s best karters.
