Nuyles seeks Narvasa's help in contract row with Mahindra

Philstar.com

MANILA, Philippines – Beleaguered Mahindra shooting guard Alex Nuyles formally submitted his letter, seeking the help of PBA commissioner Chito Narvasa regarding his supposed new contract and his unpaid salaries with the Enforcers management.

Nuyles, represented by his agent Ed Ponceja, forwarded the letter at the Office of the Commissioner in Libis, Quezon City, on Thursday, with hopes that Narvasa could act upon his concern as he claimed Mahindra management refused to honor his newly-signed one-year contract extension.

“Naibigay na namin yung letter, pero may pinapa-reconstruct lang naman sa letter,” Ponceja told Philstar.com when reached for comment.

“Kailangan i-attach dun yung contract niya (Nuyles) from Rain or Shine, Blackwater and then to KIA (Mahindra’s former name),” he added.

Ponceja, who also handles the careers of newly-acquired Mahindra players Nino Canaleta and Aldrech Ramos, stressed that Enforcers management refused to honor the one-year contract extension Nuyles signed on July 29.

Selected ninth overall by Rain or Shine in the 2013 PBA Draft, Nuyles’ original two-year rookie contract expired on Aug. 31.

“Ang paliwanang sa amin eh gagawin daw siyang part ng core ng team, eh pero simula pa nung 15th (of September) 'di pa siya sumusweldo. Ngayon ayaw na nila (Mahindra management) i-honor 'yung bagong kontrata niya kasi 'di na daw valid,” explained Ponceja.

The former Adamson Falcon earlier vented his frustration via his official Instagram account @alexnuyles06.

“They offered a contract, I signed, short notice, contract was not valid? I guess no more [PBA] games for me this year? Tsk tsk tsk...Missing my old team,” Nuyles posted, while wearing his old Rain or Shine jersey.

Ponceja said Narvasa assured them that he will take a look at Nuyles’ case once he returns shortly from Changsa, China, where the PBA contingent is currently supporting Gilas Pilipinas’ championship bid in the FIBA Asia men’s championships.

In the meantime, Philstar.com tried contacting Mahindra team manager Eric Pineda to comment on the matter, but he couldn’t be reached as of posting time.
