MANILA, Philippines - Joseph Tambunting carded a one-over-par 73 to net the overall gross title with 37 points in Stableford format in the Phoenix Premium 98 Amateur Open Presented by Mechatrends’ second leg at the Legends course of Manila Southwoods in Carmona recently.
Tambunting used his knowledge of his home course in achieving the top honor he also shared with Raul Magpantay, who shot a net 45 to capture the overall net trophy of the tournament established by Phoenix Petroleum Philippines.
Former professional Eddie Bagtas won by countback over Brixton Aw and Manfred Guangko in the Open Class of the event supported by Magsaysay Transport & Logistics Services and BDO-Unibank.
Bong Brobio produced 35 to win in Class A against Thirdy Escano and Philippine Sports Commission chairman Richie Garcia, who each made 32. Colin Ratcleiff (Class B), Dan Reyes (Class C), and Ermie Adlawan (Class D) were the other winners.
Development Bank of the Philippines, Asia United Bank, Custom Clubmakers, PAGCOR, Maybank, ICPI, Alpha Quality Express, Product Providers, Srixon, PSC, Concept Trade and La Salle Medical Center were backers.
The series’ last stop will be on Oct. 16 at Beverly Place.
