San Beda extends NCAA swimming dynasty

MANILA, Philippines — San Beda extended its men's swimming domination to a spectacular 14th straight year even as its women's squad completed a four-peat feat in 91st NCAA pool competition that concluded over the weekend at the Rizal Memorial Swimming Center in Manila.

The Sea Lions, led by Joshua Junsay, tallied a total of 1,374 points in the three-day meet to run away with a league-record 14th straight men's swimming championship and a league-best 18th overall.

St. Benilde and Emilio Aguinaldo finished at distant sec ond and third with 608.5 and 252.5 points, respectively.

The Sea Lionesses, for their part, amassed 1,123.5 points to survive the serious challenge put up by the Lady Blazers, who had 1,000.5 points in second, and the Lady Admirals, who went third with 251.5 points.

Icing the San Beda cake was Junsay's MVP and Recordbreaker plums.

St. Benilde's Ma. Aresa Lipat emerged the women's MVP for the third straight season after she emerged with 125 points.

CSB-La Salle Greenhills, meanwhile,copped its 12th straight juniors crown with 1,102 points, drowning San Beda at second with 836.5 points.        

The Greenies was coached by Evan Grabador and was spearheaded by eventual Record-breaker winner Andrae Pogiongko.

San Beda's Baste Arcilla was the juniors MVP.
