MANILA, Philippines - International Master Nikolay Andrianov of Russia posted 18 wins and one draw in his simultaneous exhibition matches against Milo Checkmate enrollees at Starmall EDSA Shaw in Mandaluyong last weekend.
Andrianov drew with 14-year old Armand Gabriel Narvaja of Quezon City Science High School after 25 moves in a king, bishop and pawn endgame. Narvaja, in turn, was awarded a silver medal, courtesy of the sponsoring Milo.
Aside from the simul, Andrianov was the guest lecturer in the opening of the fifth series of the Milo Checkmate weekend program. The events were part of the program aimed at developing the chess talents of young children into masters’ strength level through formal and systematic method of teaching.
The weekend clinics are being held at San Sebastian College-Recoletos Manila, Starmall EDSA, Alabang Town Center, Kinderville Learning Center and Grace Christian College.
