MANILA, Philippines - National Housing Authority guns for the early lead as it battles Senate today while defending champion Judiciary tries to rebound from a shock opening day defeat at the resumption of the fourth UNTV Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena.
The Builders are coming off an inspiring 85-79 win over Department of Justice last week but will have their hands full against a squad that will be led by player-coach Kenneth Duremdes.
The NHA-Senate showdown is set at 5:30 p.m. while Judiciary collides with the Bureau of Fire Protection at 3:30 p.m. with the Magis going for redemption after losing to the Metro Manila Development Authority Blackwolves, 76-56, in the opener of the tournament for public servants.
Barred from playing in the league last year being a former PBA star, Duremdes said they will try their best to improve on their fourth place finish last season.
Ombudsman targets a flying start when it debuts against House of Representatives at 7 p.m.
A brainchild of UNTV CEO and president Daniel Razon, the tournament offers P2 million to the champion with the prize going to the team’s chosen charity.
