Warriors star Steph Curry to arrive in Manila tomorrow
MANILA, Philippines – Stephen Curry is flying to the country on Saturday straight from Tokyo, Japan for a quick, one-day visit as part of Under Armour's five-city, three-country show.
Curry, the reigning NBA MVP who helped power the Golden State Warriors to this year's NBA championship, will hold a media day at noon at the Raffles Hotel in Makati City, or just a few hours after arriving.
In the afternoon, he will go straight to the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, where he will have several activities with some local endorsers of Under Armour for rabid Filipino basketball fans.
“China and the Philippines have a rich cultural connection to basketball and I’ve heard the game is becoming more popular in Japan by the day," said Curry in a press release.
"This will be an unforgettable experience and we have some special things planned for some of the best basketball fans in the world," he added.
After Manila, Curry will fly straight to China on Sunday with stops in Beijing, Chongqing and Shanghai.
Curry is among the NBA players who visited the country in the last few weeks.
The Cleveland Cavaliers' LeBron James (Nike), the Minnesota Timberwolves' Ricky Rubio (adidas) and the Denver Nuggets' Kenneth Faried and the San Antonio Spurs' Danny Green (NBA 3X 2015) were all frequent Phl visitors before Curry.
