Russian IM holds lecture, ‘simul’

MANILA, Philippines - International Master Nikolay Andrianov of Russia will be the guest lecturer in tomorrow’s opening of the fifth series of Milo Checkmate weekend clinics at three venues in Metro Manila.

The venues and time schedules will be at San Sebastian College-Recoletos Manila (8 a.m.-11 a.m. grade school); Starmall Edsa Shaw 2F Event area (10 a.m.-1 p.m.) and Alabang Town Center, promenade area (2:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m.).

IM Andrianov is also set to perform simultaneous exhibition matches against selected students at Starmall Edsa Shaw on Sunday. Medals, courtesy of the sponsoring Milo, will be awarded to those who will win or draw in the simul.

The event is part of the Milo Checkmate year-round program aimed at developing the chess talents of young children into masters’ strength level through formal and systematic method of teaching.

Among those who had performed exhibition matches against Milo Checkmate enrollees were former world champion GM Viswanathan Anand; the late GM Eduard Gufeld of Russia; GM Wesley So; Asia’s first GM Eugene Torre; GM Mark Paragua and GM John Paul Gomez.
