Circuit showdown brings top riders back to Clark

MANILA, Philippines - Brewing rivalries promise more thrilling and unpredictable showdown for the titles at stake when the country’s finest circuit racers troop back to Clark for the fourth leg of the 2015 Yokohama Philippine Grand Touring Car Championships Series today at the Clark International Speedway.

Defending champion Dondon Portugal and comebacking ace driver Willie Torres of W Autosport Racing gear up for a more intense duel in the premier GT300 class in a bid to fortify their hunt for the coveted Yokohama GT Driver of the Year plum of this event sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines (AAP) and sponsored by Yokohama, the official tires and Sparco.

Although Torres currently leads the points standings, Portugal may likely change earlier statement of competing only in the Batangas legs as he could still push his quest for a back-to-back crown.

Another main focus is the much-talked about rivalry between Richmond dela Rosa who continues to stay on top of the title race and reigning PTCC champ Paolo Mantolino who’s raring to bounce back to keep his chances strong for a back-to-back GT200 plum.

Also favored are Patrick de la Rosa in the GT150 class and Ivan Diaz in the GT100 division.

Spicing up tne day are the showdown of classic Mini-Coopers in the PhilMiniracers Championship Series, the Classic Aspirated Cup and the Sparco Bracket Racing.

The Classic Aspirated Cup is open to drivers 40 years old and above using 1985 and older cars that are natural-aspirated only with no turbo charge.  Only EFI, supercharge engines are allowed.

Sparco Bracket Racing is expected to keep competition close as the overall champion at the end of the series will receive his own Golden Wheel trophy that makes him an automatic nominee for the prestigious Golden Wheel Driver of the Year award.

Any racing enthusiast can join for a minimal entry fee of P2,500.
