Salvado bags 2 crowns in Sun Cellular badminton

MANILA, Philippines - Team Prima’s Arthur Samuel Salvado Jr. downed Space Shuttle Kidapawan’s Harvey Michael Enriquez, 21-17, 21-7, to capture the boys’ Under-15 singles title in the Mindanao leg of the Sun Cellular badminton tournament at the Smash N’ Drop Badminton Center in San Pedro Extension, Davao City.

Salvado later teamed up with Firing Squad/Talomo Anchors’ Jennifer Helyn Saladaga to beat Metro Kidapawan’s Ralph Batalon and Camille Buagas, 21-8, 21-13, for the U15 mixed doubles crown.

Metro Kidapawan’s Lady Zazhca Tuario downed Space Shuttle Kidapawan’s Isabel Gem Neri, 21-14, 21-19, to cop the girls’ singles U13 gold while Space Shuttle Kidapawan’s Catherine Joyce Barrientos routed Metro Kidapawan’s Allysandra Orfrecio, 21-9, 21-14.

Other winners were Agustin Alvarez, Jr. and Ralph Batalon of Metro Kidapawan and Karylle Kaye Molina of Team Anchors and Saladaga of Firing Squad/Talomo Anchors, who topped the boys and girls U15 doubles classes in the event sponsored by Sun Cellular, Smart, MVP Sports Foundation, PBA, Smash Pilipinas, Victor exclusively distributed by Pcome Industrial Sales, Inc., Bayfront Hotel Cebu, JC Centre Mandaue

Alvarez and Batalon beat teammates Francis Danielle Buagas and Dennis Ben Felipe, 21-11, 21-18, while Molina and Saladaga dumped Deahn Eusalan and Allysandra Orfrecio of Metro Kidapawan, 21-12, 21-13.

Other division winners were CBBD Smashers Mati’s Dashiel Requira Indelible in the boys U11, Ande Alexis Macalalag in the girls’ U11 and Whackers Badminton Academy’s Nestojan Tapales in the boys U13.

All the winners gained berths in the national finals set Sept. 26-27 at the J Centre Mandaue in Banilad, Cebu.
